Mount Benson Vineyards 2002 Cabernet Merlot Aug 04
The wine is
made from 7-8 year old vines that are cropped at about 1 ton per acre and was
matured in 15% new oak with a mixture of both French and American. A well-balanced young wine that needs to be cellared for a few
years to show its best. At this stage, the pure, ripe sweet cassis,
subtle cigar box and leafy fruit flavours are buried by drying tannins. Varietally
correct, it is ample-weight
with a solid structure and agreeable complexity. A good wine for the price, it
is rated as Recommended with *** for value.
