Marius 2006 Simpatico Shiraz Nov 08

For those that don't know, Roger Pike is an excellent producer in McLaren Vale who, without doubt, is one of the most anal small producers in the district. He has probably named every vine on his property, and you can bet your sweet bippy, Roger speaks to each and every one of them, every day. Such is his love for what he does, and his attention to detail.

The bouquet is brooding and sulking, with loads of spice over cedary notes. Fine, drying tannins are well balanced to the pure, deeply-seated fruit. An ample-weight, supple wine with a solid structure and showing some elegance, the construction is harmonious, and this wine is 100% consistent with Roger’s previous best efforts. Sour black cherry, black pepper, and sweet plum flavours finish with excellent length and good persistence. The wine is just about approachable now but will improve and should best be consumed between 2012 and 2019; Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value. A very interesting wine and this label is getting better and better. Sealed under screwcap.
