Lunar Wines 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon April 06

The bouquet was initially dominated by very dusty, cedar oak, blackcurrant, and a touch of menthol; as it opened, the black notes intensified. Ample-weight; its beautifully balanced; in the early stages, the abundant, drying tannins dominated the pure, deeply seated fruit but with time, the fruit surfaced and the wines appeal became obvious.  Mulberry/blackberry and blackcurrant spectrum flavours, controlled coffee oak, violets and aniseed flavours have generous complexity.  It's early youthful edge metamorphosed into a harmonious drop that is perfectly  ripe, and finishes clean with supporting refreshing acid. An eminently drinkable wine, it's rated as Highly Recommended with *** for value, its a great first effort under this new label.
