Lazy Ballerina 2006 Shiraz Jan 08

Lovely perfumed notes greets the nose with an inviting welcome; it’s deep and broody but expressive and also shows milk chocolate, plum and graphite, and whilst the fruit dominates there is noticeable coffee oak too. The palate is an amalgam of sweet fruit, plum, chocolate, coco and coffee that is offset by sour cherry and dried herbs. Driven by strong, deep fruit, the acid is fresh and the fine, powdery tannins finish long, persistant and very dry. It’s muscular-weight with a subtle consistency, well structured and balanced, and the harmonious complexity makes it a most enjoyable wine. Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value, it punches well above its weight in the value stakes. It is approachable now but should peak about 2012+; sealed under Diam.
