Lake Breeze 2000 Winemakers Selection Shiraz Aug 04
Retailing for $35, this wine has been out for some time now.
When I first tried it, I thought it was OK but not very impressive. Some extra
time has done it the world of good. The bouquet is soft and shows a slight char
to the oak but the fruit is obviously good. Very approachable now, for its
ample weight, there is excellent power and intensity which builds slowly and
finishes long. Chocolate, blackcurrant, plum and aniseed result from pure
fruit. Very fine tannins back a solid structure with firm but supple
consistency and the complexity is harmonious and well developed. Great result
for the vintage, the char does not detract at all and the wine is rated as Excellent
with ***
for value.
