Kilikanoon 2002 Medley GSM Oct 04

The Shiraz component dominates the bouquet with pepper, milk chocolate, raspberry and subtle earthy, meaty notes and a hint of floral at the end.

Both intensely sweet and contrasting off-sweet and savoury characters come from the pure, deeply seated fruit which is the driving force of this wine. Pepper, dark chocolate, raspberry and strong meat flavours have good depth and loads of intensity, yet the weight of the wine is only a little over medium. It packs a big punch for its weight and finishes with a green herbaceous character which may indicate all the grapes were not perfectly ripe (or young vines) but that does not detract from the experience. Well constructed and reasonably clean, if only all GSM's at this price were this intense. Rated as Recommended with *** for value this is worthy of consideration.
