Kilikanoon 2002 Killerman's Run Shiraz Grenache Oct 04

A Shiraz Grenache blend of unspecified proportions. Deeply seated brooding fruit that refused to lift its skirt for a peak underneath, a controlled level of varnished oak characters was also evident. Loads of mint, rich chocolate, milk chocolate and a range of intense, multiple berry fruit flavours running from red to black finish dry. Chalky tannins are noticeable but very smooth and should integrate with a little time and the deeply seated fruit is well and truly up to the task. Flavour complexity and persistence are well above average. Ample weight with a solid structure, a very pleasant drinkable wine, Rated as Recommended with **** for value this is worth buying. it is drinking well now with its lush fruit but should cellar for the medium term and show improvement. My choice of the first four lower priced wines in this bracket.
