Kells Creek 2002 Family Reserve
Merlot Oct 03
A very attractive bouquet; there is a head aroma of highly
perfumed fruit, sweet subtle musk, plums, spearmint and all sorts of other
goodies, it’s an intriguing wine that gains ones immediate attention. The wine
is mid weight with ultra smooth tannins but the abundant zingy acid needs time
to integrate. The plumy fruit is dominated by large amounts of tobacco, subtle
mint and a bit of sappiness too. The tobacco flavoured persistency of finish is
excellent. Rated as Agreeable with ** for value, the rating should improve with
time as the wine matures; it sells for $30 a bottle at cellar door.
