Kay Bros Amery 1999 Block Six
Shiraz Sept 05
The first bottle from a six pack, I cracked this as JO
had a suggested drinking window of 2004-07 which seemed odd to my way of
thinking and I wanted to see fro myself. The bouquet is intensely ripe but
savoury showing plum and blackberry and abundant, nose clearing eucalyptus.
The wine explodes across the palate with strong blackberry, chocolate,
eucalyptus and red plum. Loads of fine-grained tannins provide excellent
length and the wine finishes very dry. A full-bodied, big wine that finishes
with good persistence, it’s an absolute baby that needs at least another 3
years. Rated as Excellent.
