Katnook 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon PlonkOz04

I haven't particularly liked this wine for the past few vintages so it was with some trepidation that I tried it. Attractive perfumed fruit, almost a soap fragrance, this is the sort of wine I could sniff all day. Ultra-fine, drying tannins, balanced acid and pure fruit combine to form a well-structured wine that is muscular in weight, has a supple consistency, well developed complexity and is topped of with a great mouth feel. Blackcurrant on the take up leads to a sweet mid palate of chocolate and mint that finishes dry. Very drinkable now but it should improve and is worthy of cellar space. To my way of thinking, the best under this label since 1996, this can be found for as low as $30 and based on that price its rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value.
