Kalleske 2007 Moppa Springs Shiraz Jan 09

The wine has a small amount of Viognier and Petit Verdot; has a RRP of $29 and is sealed under screwcap. The bouquet shows loads of deep-seated fruit, earthy notes below; five spice, apricot, dark plum, and coffee. Dusty tannins combine with fresh acid and distinct fruit to form an ample-weight wine that is solid, firm and has a well developed complexity. The flavour profile is intensely black on the uptake with blackberry, five spice, aniseed, plum, chocolate and noticeable eucalyptus on the reasonable length and persistence finish. It has loads of fruit flavour but is not their best effort in this price bracket. Rated as Recommended with ** for value.
