Kaesler 2005 Avignon June 06

The wine is a SMG blender in the ratio of 41%/ 40% / 19%. The bouquet has fantastic complexity; it’s dusty, with loads of meaty characters, pepper, red berry and milk chocolate. A lively, fruit-driven wine with strong, deep, pure fruit that is well-supported by fresh acid and enough fine, unobtrusive tannins to hold the wine together. Ample-weight with a supple consistency, the taste is super; blackberry, char, aniseed, raspberry, pepper and dark chocolate combine to form a very complex wine that would be terrific with pasta. The only downside is there is not a lot of length, but it's so damn drinkable who cares. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, the rating should improve if the wine gains length as it matures.
