Kaesler 2004 The Bogan June 06

Noticeable VA gives a lift to the coffee essence, blueberry and touch of apricot on the nose. A well-balanced drop that’s backed by tightly-grained, smooth tannins; the deep, strong fruit is enhanced by the fresh acid that cuts through it with razor like precision and provides a lift. Perfectly ripe, intense blackberry, dark chocolate, coffee, mint and a hint of apricot flavours provide and agreeable level of complexity which should improve as the wine ages. A wine of obvious high quality, the construction and balance is harmonious; the consistency supple and it finishes with good persistence and length. Rated as Highly Recommended with *** for value, it’s still very tight and the rating should improve as the wine matures in about 5 years.
