Kaesler 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon June 06

VA with dusty cedar, sweet blackcurrant fruit, peppermint and nose-clearing menthol leads to a palate showing intense blackcurrant, dried herbs, mint and black coffee. Well-balanced and with a harmonious construction, the fruit is doing the talking whilst the tannins provide a solid backbone and the controlled, lively acid lifts the fruit. A muscular-weight wine, it is clean, well made, finishes long and dry, and whilst it’s a nice dry red, it’s also varietally correct for a Barossa Cabernet. Most enjoyable, it’s rated as Recommended with **** for value and is worth buying; drink over the next five years.
