John's Blend 2005 Margarete’s Shiraz June 08 sells for approximately $32 and is sealed under cork. The bouquet is earthy with coconut oak, dark fruit, caramel and mint. A big, bloody-solid wine in every respect; the chalky tannins combine with fresh and crisp acid to back the strong, deeply-seated fruit producing a perfectly balanced package that is not for the oak-a-phobic. Black coffee, coconut oak, black chocolate, mint, plum, and dried oregano flavours finish long, clean and dry. It's very savoury and still locked like a safe and needs time to open up. A good wine for its style, it's Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value and the rating should improve as it enters its peak drinking window between 2015 and 2025.
