John Glaetzer 2004 John’s Blend Cabernet Sauvignon
Jan 09
Sealed under cork, it retails for around $33 a bottle from your friendly
bottle-o. Dusty oak tannins dominate the deep fruit with a bit of menthol on the
tail. The blackcurrant is off-sweet and although there is a hint of sweetness
below, the sour cherry and mint finishes savoury and very dry. The
build/structure is pure Cabernet but the flavour profile is big red material. A
full-bodied, firm and solid wine, it needs time for the tannins to resolve.
Rated as Recommended with *** for value, the rating should increase when it
enters its peak drinking window between 2012 and 2019.
