Jacobs Creek 1998 Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon Dec 04

This wine was made to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Jacobs Creek brand.

A ripe but savoury fruit intense bouquet with wonderful complexity, earthy notes, chocolate, black fruits and the hint of menthol that first appeared on opening and turned into nose clearing proportions as the wine opened up; add to that a touch of spice an cinnamon. Intensely savoury on the palate, there was also an underlying supporting layer of subtle sweetness, black berry fruits, a subtle grind of pepper (unusual for a Barossa Cabernet) chocolate, mint and tobacco leaf, the power for an ample weight wine is formidable. Rated as Highly Recommended, this wine is still a babe and will only get better with another few years.
