Houghton 2001 Gladstone Shiraz PlonkOz04
Admittedly I didn't get a very good look at this wine so this should be regarded
as an impression rather than full on tasting note. There is some pure,
persistent, good-quality fruit in this wine and it also has a good mouth feel.
On the palate it is ripe, off-sweet with vanilla and chocolate oak, and whilst
the fruit seems almost delicate it has does have a good persistence, however
there appears to be loads of oak tannin on the finish. Medium-weight, the
consistency is firm but supple and it is very drinkable now but will be better
with five years plus of ageing. The winning crowd pleaser, it is rated as
