Houghton 2000 Gladstone Shiraz PlonkOz04

The bouquet is refined, and whilst it has a touch of VA the fruit is ripe and is attractive. Velvety, drying tannins and pure fruit produce an excellently structured and built wine with an attractive mouth feel. Mulberry and chocolate flavours fill the hole in one's teeth and finish with a terrific long, creamy finish. Medium-weight, the consistency is supple and the wine should become seamless in time. A classy wine with a sophisticated complexity this is seriously good stuff that is drinking well now but will improve to 2009 and beyond. Rated as Excellent with *** for value. I found this wine much better this time around then on the last occasion I tried it, enough to motivate me to get some.
