A touch of smoky oak over sweet fruit with clove and cardamom dominated the aromas. Very-fine, dusty, smooth tannins, unobtrusive acid and deep, pure fruit combine to form a medium-weight wine with a firm but supple consistency and a tight, elegant structure. A very attractive, layered layered flavour profile produces a refined, sophisticated complexity that really showed its spicy nature as it opened in the glass but in reality, the fruit does have good persistence but is buried at present. A high-quality, classy wine, it is rated as Highly Recommended with *** for value and the rating has definite room for improvement as the wine matures in 2010 and beyond.
