Higher Plane 2001 Cabernet Merlot PlonkOz04

By the time you read this, the wine will be sold out, which is a pity because you've missed out but Brian and I purchased one of the last remaining cases for $25 a bottle. The 2002 has been released, but in my opinion the 2001 is better.

The bouquet was attractive and perfumed; a real step up in class over the 2002 and has all the necessary components. A clean, well-balanced wine with a solid structure and pure fruit which delivers blackcurrant, black cherry, chocolate and mint in an ample-weight package. The consistency is supple and the complexity well developed. Rated as Highly Recommended with *** for value, it should peak in 2007+.
