Heritage 2002 Barossa Shiraz March 04

Youthful, tight, inviting nose, it is showing fresh and clean dark berry fruit with well balanced vanilla oak. Sweet plum on the uptake leads to chocolate whilst a savoury liquorice undercurrent goes all the way through the palate resulting in two layers. Fine grained smooth tannins and unobtrusive acid makes this very approachable now but no doubt a few years will see it improve. Very much a crowd pleaser at present, the fruit is doing all the talking and it is jugable, dangerously so! Not the most complex wine around, its muscular in weight, the wine is very well constructed, perfectly balanced and this is absolutely worth buying. It can be found for $18 and at that price is rated as Recommended with **** for value, the rating should improve as the wine matures.
