Hartz Barn 2004 General Store Shiraz April 07

The bouquet was still brooding after four hours but exhibited pleasant, sweet black fruit aromatics with contrasting off-sweet notes. The construction is excellent; tannins are silky, the acid unobtrusive and the fruit pure and deep. The wine is consistent with previous vintages having a very black flavour profile showing blackberry, a hint of black pepper, and oregano; it finishes with admirable persistence. A muscular-weight ,supple wine that is already seamless and has an agreeable complexity; it's a very easy-drinking wine that will disappear fast. Already drinking well, it is rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value. It is sealed with a screwcap.
