Hartz Barn 2004 Carriages Cabernet Sauvignon April 07

The Cabernet is always my favourite in their line up, and this year's release was no exception. The bouquet is unmistakably Cabernet; herbal notes with blueberry and French oak influence. Tannins are slightly powdery and well matched to the fresh acid, and support the distinct fruit to form an ample-weight wine, that should becomes seamless once all the components, which currently seem layered and separate, have had a chance to come together. The flavour profile is blacker than in previous years with blackcurrant, blackberry, vanillin and coffee oak, tea leaf and a hint of aniseed. Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value, drink from 2010+.  It is sealed with a screwcap.
