Gypsie Jack 2006 Shiraz June 08 sells for approximately $18 and is sealed under screwcap. Made by the formidable winemaking duo of Ben Potts and John Glaetzer from Langhorne Creek fruit, the bouquet shows loads of oak with menthol, mint, plum and liquorice. A well-balanced, credible wine it’s far better than the 2005; its muscular-weight with a supple consistency, and the powdery tannins back a solid, tight structure. The abundant, deep, strong fruit is juicy but off sweet and delivers loads of ripe plum, black chocolate and mint flavours that finish with excellent persistence and a huge amount of power. A very drinkable wine that is approachable now, it should improve in the short term and is rated as Recommended with **** for value, drink from 2010 to 2015. Now these guys are cooking with gas.
