Grapes of Ross 2006 Black Rose Shiraz April 08 sells for $30 and is available from Squashedgrape and selected bottle stores; it is sealed under screwcap. The bouquet shows a black fruit profile of abundant, sweet and vanillin oak and nutmeg. A medium-weight wine with a soft consistency, there are enough tannins to hold the wine together for some time. The flavour profile is agreeable with plum, blackberry, nutmeg, and oregano that finishes with reasonable persistence but it is short on the back palate. It's elegant for a Barossa Shiraz. Rated as Recommended with ** for value. At this stage, much of the fruit flavour is coming from the oak, so it does need a little time for the fruit to surface.
