Gemtree 2003 Uncut Shiraz Aug 04
Matured in 80% French oak and 20% American,
60% of it was new, the wine retails for around $22. A touch of VA, the bouquet
indicates it is ripe and easy drinking with dusty tannins in support. Nothing
wimpy about this baby, strong, pure, persistent fruit is ably supported by
young acid and drying tannins. Muscular-weight, the consistency is firm yet
supple, complexity is well developed with a punching mulberry and chocolate flavour
that provides a big bang for the buck. A great result for the
vintage, a solid, credible wine that is worth of purchase. Rated as Recommended with **** for value.
