Eden Springs 2002 Shiraz Nov 05

The nose is dominated by seemingly very sweet blackberry with a reasonable amount of white pepper below, but there is also a touch of liquid smoke. A fruit-driven wine that is well backed by smooth tannins; it is medium-weight with a supple consistency, a solid structure and has a well-developed diverse complexity. Gamey; offsetting sweet and savoury nuances with spicy/pepper, aniseed, and blackberry flavours run through the palate in waves of alternating flavours. It is still youthful and whilst there may be a little Brett, it is attractive. The wine has an intense finish with an excellent power to weight ratio. It is drinking well now and holds some interest. Rated as Recommended with *** for value.
