Di Georgio 1998 Francesco Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Aug 04  (Limestone Coast )

When I visited the cellar door in Coonawarra just after it was opened, the wines from this estate did not greatly impress but as i had heard good things about this wine, I decided to try it. The intense, lifted nose shows good quality, pure fruit which delivers blackberry, plum, pepper, mint, tobacco and chocolate with both sweet and savoury characters. The harmonious flavour profile is already well developed but with time, it should get even better. Unobtrusive, smooth tannins provide a supple consistency and solid backbone for this ample-weight wine that has some elegance to its clean, well made structure. Rated as Highly Recommended with *** for value, the rating has potential to improve.
