D’Angelo 2005 Fugiastro Officier Pinot May08 retails for around $28 and is sealed under screwcap. A much better wine than the Yarra Valley version; the bouquet shows sweet red fruit characters over truffle like mushroom and forest floor. A lean, supple wine that is almost seamless and is already reasonably harmonious, it's much more enjoyable than the Yarra Valley version. The ripe fruit shows sour cherry, perfumed violets/blackcurrant and milk chocolate on the mid-palate that leads to a slightly, dusty, clean and dry finish. Rated as Recommended with *** for value.
