Coriole 2002 Shiraz Oct 04
Lifted fresh bouquet showing vanillin American oak, dill,
blackberry and spice. Ample in weight, tannins are smooth, verging on silky so
the supple mouth feel is no surprise and the very fresh acid is typical of a
number of 02's. Initially, the wine is very sweet on the uptake but there is
good contrasting mid-palate darker berry fruit with plums spice and a
chocolate finish. The wine has a good flavour profile but seems to lack that
"something special" and almost seems a bit thin, despite the ripe fruit. An easy
drinking wine that is not much more than a crowd pleaser but it does have good
intensity of flavour. Somehow it seems like it should be capable of more but
there is nothing wrong with it, rated as Recommended with
