Coldstream Hills 2001 Limited
Release Shiraz Oct 04
An earthy, dumb bouquet complete with sweaty sox, liquorice
and chocolate. Well constructed and balanced, tannins are smooth, the fruit
medium-weight and persistent. At first, it seems a little lean but the plum,
chocolate and aniseed flavours finish clean and with good intensity. Consistency
is supple, the structure almost seamless, and the complexity is well developed
and harmonious. A good example of a clean, well made cool climate Shiraz, it is
very easy to drink and made in a style that the wineries founder, James Halliday
would love. Rated as Highly Recommended
with ** for value at $31.50 which is the dozen
price at CD.
