Cofield 2005 Sangiovese May 2007

The bouquet shows hints of varnished oak over milk chocolate, coffee, earth and leathery characters, and white pepper. Driven by vibrant fruit which is offset by fresh acid and unobtrusive tannins, it's sweet on the uptake with contrasting sour cherry, and shows milk chocolate and hints of pepper. The intensity of flavour belies its medium-weight but it finishes a little short on the back palate. A great bistro choice because of its flavour profile and food friendly nature, it's worth buying for something a little different. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, it's $19.50 (or $17.55 for cellar door club members) and is sealed with a Diam.
