Claymore Wines 2002 Dark Side of the Moon Shiraz
Sept 05
This wine, unusually, was sent to me by a retailer. The
youthful bouquet is big, intensely fruit driven and whilst it shows some oak
characters there is more than enough lifted floral, spicy fruit aromas,
plums, chocolate, black coffee and cooling mint to manage it. The mouth feel
is supple and supported by enough unobtrusive tannins to hold the wine
together but the standout feature of the wine is the intense fruit. It's
spicy, plummy, chocolatey and delicious. Ample-weight, the wine has huge
fruit bang for the buck, but thankfully, it's not too sweet or overly jammy.
This will be a big crowd pleaser and is rated as
Recommended with **** for value.
At $16.99 it's a bargain.
