Clayfield 2004 Massif Shiraz January 06

Unlike the other wines that come from Clayfield, this is a single vineyard wine and has been sealed entirely with screw caps. The bouquet is a brooding with some noticeable sweetness, but the majority of the profile is savoury with spice, plum and some floral notes trying to burst through. Mid-weight; with loads of pepper, plum and coffee flavours are also found. Minimal-tannins and negligible oak means this is an easy to drink, fruit driven wine that is ready to go now. Unfortunately the touch of sappy green character on the mid-palate is very noticeable and detracts a little from the wine. Rated as Recommended with *** for value.
