Classic McLaren 2003 Quarryman Shiraz March 06

Sealed under Stelvin, the bouquet is driven by powerful fruit showing blackberry, plum, coffee and hints of cedar. Loads of smooth dusty tannins provides a solid backbone for this muscular-weight wine. Very ripe fruit (almost in the prune spectrum) delivers strong blackberry, coffee and herbs (oregano?) which finish with clean fresh acid and good persistence. It should improve and soften in the short term but is very drinkable now. Rated as

Agreeable with **** for value, its a fine everyday drinking wine that delivers a big mouthful of intense flavour.
