From the first sniff, this vintage was much more appealing than the previous one; the bouquet was lifted and showed subtle perfumed fruit. The balance and structure in this wine is first class. Tannins are smooth and unobtrusive, the acid is fresh, and the pure, persistent fruit is phenomenal. There is a slight hint of sweetness on the uptake with intense chocolate on the mid-palate and black fruit with aniseed and mint on an excellent length finish. Medium in weight, the consistency is a firm but supple, the structure is solid and the complexity sophisticated. The good food wine it is best drunk in 2010 plus and is rated as Excellent with *** for value.
