Cardinham 2004 Sangiovese Dec 04

The bouquet was initially dominated by intensely sweet red and blue berry spectrum fruit with some added spice, it is obviously fruit driven. After a couple of hours in the glass, the spice and savoury characters emerged to dominate the nose.

The palate is a surprise, pleasantly so with the savoury aspects taking precedence. dark cherry, spice, white pepper, plum and milk chocolate are backed by minimal powdery tannins which supplies enough backbone to hold the package together. Acid is not as noticeable as many other Sangiovese based wines. Ample-weight, the fruit is doing the talking and its fresh and delicious. An easy drinking, food friendly wine, it is rated as Agreeable with *** for value at a cost of $18 from CD.
