Cape Mentelle 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
PlonkOz04
The
bouquet is expressive, intensely dusty and with green bean characters its
screams Cabernet and even a rank amateur would notice the copious quantities of
tannins from the nose. The quality, sweet fruit is up to the task and whilst it
finishes with mouth puckering drying tannins, in time the complexity should
build as the fruit emerges. A truly varietal, well-made, medium-weight,
well-balanced, clean wine it is a long-term job and should best be drunk in
about 2011 and beyond. Rated as Highly
Recommended with ** for value it has character
unlike the Shiraz.
