Buller 2006 Valerie Shiraz Viognier April 07

When reading this tasting note, bearing in mind that I am not a fan of overt Viognier in Shiraz. The bouquet shows sweet vanillin oak dominating the fruity, dark spicy notes. Tight, dusty, drying tannins are well matched to the deep, strong fruit in this full-bodied firm wine. It shows obvious Viognier sweetness on the uptake with a savoury mid-palate, with the Viognier sweetness kicking back in on the long finish. Apricots, blackberry, vanilla and spice complete the package. The polarising wine style, sweet fruit sluts will love it. Best from 2008 and beyond. Sealed under screwcap.
