Blackjack 2002 Block 6 Shiraz
Aug 04
Having not had any Blackjack wines since I can remember, I
didn't have any great expectations about this winery and frankly, I was blown
away by them. The bouquet started off stinky but quickly blew off to reveal
blackberry, coffee, spice and subtle spearmint. High tone, ultra fine tannins
and pure fruit combine to form a clean medium weight wine with supple
consistency, and a harmonious complexity. This is an aluminum fist in a velvet
glove that is capable of a knock out punch with a gentle kiss to the kisser. It
has excellent power with intense, upfront pepper, coffee, blackberry, more
coffee and chocolate and whilst it is bloody good now, it will improve as it
peaks in 2008 and beyond. Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value, the
rating should improve. I look forward to trying it again as it ages.
