Blackets 2007 Shiraz Jan 09

Sealed under screwcap, the wine is $23.33 a bottle
(by the dozen) from the winery. Light cedar notes overlay the sweet and spicy fruit notes, the nose also shows noticeable lifted alcohol. Bone dry; the Yanks would hate this wine as there is no  sweetness or jammy characters. The flavour profile is black but controlled and whilst it is dominated by blackberry, it’s good, savoury blackberry and is complimented by black chocolate that finishes with very good persistence. The intense fruit is supported by fresh acid and unobtrusive, fine, dusty tannins. There is some sappiness on the mid palate, and a touch green on the finish that seems to be typical of a number of wines from this vintage. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, its $28 a bottle or $280 a dozen direct from the winery.
