Bannockburn 1995 PinotOct 04

This aged release was available to show how well Bannockburn Pinot ages. Noticeable browning was evident and the bouquet showed aged leather characters and gamey notes. Tannins have resolved and are smooth, the acid is still surprisingly fresh and the fruit deeply seated. This is an excellent wine, intense sweet cherry, strawberry, milk chocolate and savoury cold meat gamey characters finish long with persistence. Lean in weight, it is still a solid, firm wine with a well developed, intricate complexity that is one of the better Oz Pinots I have tried. Rated as Highly Recommended, it is in its peak drinking window but should hold for ages.
