Balnaves 2001 The Tally
PlonkOz04
I was anxious to try this wine as I had already split a six
pack with Brian. The sort of wine you can sniff all day; the fruit is pure, it
is all class and even from the nose you can tell this will be silky. What you
smell is what you get, a perfectly built, full-bodied wine that is underpinned
by loads of ultra-fine smooth tannins and pure deeply seated fruit. Sweet
raspberry, layered with off-sweet blackcurrant on the mid palate that finishes
to chocolate and a little leafy mint is harmonious and sophisticated impression
but it will only get better with age. Solid as a rock and very tight, it is a
top quality wine that needs ages. Rated as Excellent
with *** for value, try again in 2012+. I regret the purchase and
sharing the six pack with Brian; I should have kept it all.
