Balnaves 2001 Cabernet Merlot PlonkOz04

A good complex nose showing smoky oak, sweet blackberry with off-sweet nuances, a touch of aniseed and mint. Dusty tannins, unobtrusive acid and obvious fruit for an ample-weight wine with a supple consistency, solid structure and agreeable complexity. Sweet blackcurrant, chocolate, aniseed and mint finish dry; this is an attractive, easy-to-drink wine that would be hard to go past on a restaurant list. Rated as Recommended with **** for value.
