Aquila 2001 Merlot July 2003

A label I am unfamiliar with from Margaret River. Attractive spice chocolate and floral fruit notes dominate the bouquet. A youthful well balanced wine with deeply seated ample weight fruit, refreshing acid and unobtrusive tannins. An easy drinking well rounded wine with a chocolate, plum and rhubarb flavours on the palate that finishes with respectable intensity and length. There does seem to be a slightly bitter green tinge to the tannins. Rated as Agreeable with *** for value.
