Ainsworth Estate 2001 Shiraz Oct 03 sells for $25 at cellar door. Dusty oak, white pepper and barnyard notes lead to a palate of pepper, chocolate and mushroom. The fruit is pure but delicate, the tannins smooth but drying and the bodyweight lean. The wine has a well developed sense of complexity and once again it’s a lighter style of wine that’s well constructed and very food friendly. Rated as Recommended with *** for value.
