The Scourge of the Wine Boards

There are not too many people who populate Wine Forums that are not acquainted with the name Serge Birbrair. Serge seems to gain great enjoyment by creating disharmony, disruption and havoc once he joins a board. He has been booted off a number of forums, and has has more posts deleted than possibly every other wine forum contributor put together.

Serge is no fool; he has a razor sharp mind and enjoys arguing for the sake of it, even if he has to get into the gutter and throw as much mud as possible. In fact, the more mud he gets to throw and the more disharmony he creates, the more he seems to enjoy himself.

Speaking of which, today I received a submitted comment from Serge in relation to a to a snippet titled "Wine Forum Moderation or Blatant Censorship? – You Be the Judge". Serge's comments are as follows:-

"you were the one who suggested Gavin to ban me and now you whine like a bitch because Squires done to you what you asked gavin to do to me!? I am glad Squires has nailed your hypocrite ass and I bet that your pippy is too small to post this on your website. I am making a copy of this post and cc it on other wine boards so everybody can see your flaccid little pipy."

Readers can made up their own minds about the sort of person that pens this sort of text. I won't lower myself to make comment but will point out one factual inaccuracy. This is not a wine board. In addition, I have not only published it in the story, I have given prominent access to it from the home page. Immature name calling does not bother me one little bit.

(As this is now germane to this Snippet, the reasons and history as to Why I was Banned from Squires/Parker Forum can be found here.

04/14/2007 14:56:05 Damn...your balls are much bigger than I thought. Please delete my prev post, I will NEVER question the size of your balls ever again, neither in public nor in private. Ric, I am sorry.

Serge Birbrair.

04/14/2007 15:12:06 Firstly, I would like to thank Serge for his apology. I am a great believer in 'forgive and forget' - life is to short to hold grudges or to be wasted on negative feelings. I certainly would not let that sort of insignificant personal attack upset me, and accept the apology in the spirit in which it was made.

As to Serge's request to pull his comments, they will remain.

This Snippet is not about me, it is about Serge. If I genuinely believed that Serge was truly remorseful, and was unlikely to do it again, I would pull this whole page in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately Serge is a long-time, repeat, serial offender and has a long history of unprovoked verbal attacks and bully boy like tactics on wine forums. The only way to stop a bully is to stand up to them and expose them; and that is exactly why this Snippet will remain for all to see.

04/14/2007 19:52:17 IF only this were the last we would see of Scourge Birbrair aka Floppy. Just be sure to delete any new members registering from porn sites, and you should be fine.

He is wine porn of the worst kind. Way to stand up for yourself.

04/16/2007 19:50:34 I Googled him a while back and found something on the 'Ultimate Metal' forum ( a forum for head bangers, of all things, where he was posting) explaining how his business worked, and it was quite instructive.

Serge has made millions upon millions of dollars by trawling forums all over the world, collecting up e-mail addresses and on selling them to porn sites.

This link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6928696/ is a story headed 'Alleged mobsters guilty in vast Net, phone fraud Mafia scheme said to have netted $659 million over 7 years.' Serge's connection is mentioned on page 3.

Pretty ordinary dude, it seems, so don't be too apologetic about him.

04/16/2007 20:03:59 Two (yawn) responses from Serge have been ignored and not posted here as they were a waste of space. One was an unintelligible attempt at a song!

When they were not posted that generated another (yawn) response. This one with a link to his site which has also been promptly ignored and deleted.

Time to have a snooze, all this yawning is making me tired. -:)

04/20/2007 09:30:52 Thank you Ric for keeping this much of the story on your site. Some of us have (had) not a clue what the Scourge issue was all about. Exposing this kind of behavior is important so that others are not taken in unawares. We need at least some of the history and thanks to you, we have it.
