Waninga 2000 Shiraz – April 2003
Despite being in the glass for two hours, the nose was very
subtle and yields little except sweet milk chocolate, subtle berry and pine
forest notes.
Tannins are very fine grained, acid is judged to perfection
and the wine is almost seamless already. It’s refined, almost elegant, but the
intensity of fruit flavour and length of finish belies the mid weight fruit.
It’s exceedingly well put together and one of the better 2000 wines from Clare.
Savoury plums and chocolate complete the package, and like
most of the wines I have tried from this winery, its food friendly.
Recommended with **** for
value, it’s a damn good wine for the price.
