Waninga 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
– April 2003
A subtle bouquet that took some coaxing to show slightly sweet
but predominantly savoury berry, milk chocolate and spearmint.
A (just) mid weight wine with slightly chewy tannins that
whilst being unobtrusive are still noticeable; the acid and fruit match
perfectly. The structure is aimed at easy drinking and being food friendly.
Flavours are savoury dark berry with a touch of sweetness, loads
of mint, a bit of tomato leaf characters and milk chocolate, just what the
bouquet promises. The wine can be drunk now but will be better with a couple of
years in the cellar.
Rated as Recommended with ****
for value at $20 the wine is elegant and will be enjoyed by those that like a
lighter style of red.
